Its author, Guillermo Enrique Hudson (1841 - 1922) was born in Quilmes (Argentina), but from 1874 he lived in England until the end of his days. He was a prominent student of local ornithology.

This work is about a lengthy study on River Plate ornithology, written, like all Hudson's production, in English, and beautifully illustrated with 22 colored drawings by H. Gronvold. Without fear of being wrong, we assure you that “Birds of La Plata” is an essential title in any library referring to the natural history of our region.
