It is map number 7 included in Volume XIII of the collection "General History of the Discoveries" of Abbe Francois Antoine Prevost, published in Paris between 1746 and 1759, and illustrated with maps by the great French cartographer Jacques Nicolas Bellin.

Its author, Jacques Nicholas Bellin (1703 - 1772), French “Hydrographic Engineer of the Navy” and also entitled “Cartographer of the King”, drew this chart surely by resorting to Jesuit cartography, the most advanced for the time. From our continent, its “Carte du Paraguay et des Pays voisins”, “Suite du Pérou Audience de Charcas”, and “Carte de la Rivière de la Plata” are famous, all of them included in the aforementioned collection.
