Silver mate. Buenos Aires, second half of the 19th century.
Laminated, cast, cut and chiseled silver. Measurements. Height: 20.6 cm / 4.17 in. Weight: 257 gr.
Its calyx-like base has two chiseled bands, the lower one with flowers. In the shaft, a first section with a sphere, supports three arms with mythological figures on which the container rests. This one, with a high mouth, has on its equator, in a smooth band, a chiseled band on top and the rest of the bowl, ornamented with phytomorphic details.
The forms date back to the beginning of the 19th century, when civil uses in Buenos Aires silversmiths were manifested in mates and incense sticks.
