Poncho.

Poncho. Potolo. Municipality of Sucre. Bolivia. Mid 20th century.

Woven on an oblique loom, two panels with central union, natural black high mountain alpaca fiber warp face for the field and dyed with cochineal scarlet for the wide stripes that flank the labor streets with representation of mythical animals, so representative of the Potolo textile factory. Fringes on its four edges. Measurements: Length 170 cm / 66.92 in. Width 140 cm / 55.11 in.

High quality piece, woven with details that distinguish it, as we can see in the lloque of the lateral edges (zigzag effect achieved by alternating warps twisted in S with others twisted in Z) that, in addition to being beautiful, has the ancient symbolism of divine protection for its owner.
