Quarto major, oblong (25.4 x 32.6 cm / 10 x 12.83 in), cover, 2 sheets, with Index and description of the images, and 48 photographs (20.5 x 15 cm / 8.07 x 5.9 in) printed in the Albertype process in sepia tone and assembled one per page. Bound in editor's cartoné, with cords. Exemplary in excellent shape.


The Albertype Company was a photographic company founded by Adolph and Herman L. Wittemann in 1890 and specialized in publishing postcards and books of views in photographs. The Brooklyn-based company used the recent technological innovation of albertype, to obtain photomechanical records.


These high-quality photos express a careful selection of views of the city of Washington. All the photographs with their titles printed on the negative and a more detailed description of each one of them in the index.
