The work, the account of his trip -with anecdotes and a brushstroke on the economic activities that gave impetus to both nations-, is dedicated to the then Mayor of the city of Buenos Aires, Alberto Casares, and to the Spanish resident in our land, Manuel Duran.

The son of the Catalan lithographer and printer Carlos Santigosa y Gaspar, Carlos María was born in Seville in 1845 at a time when his father was editing the famous “Album Sevillano” (1849) and successive maps of the city. Dedicated to journalism, one of his first notes was on the 1865 epidemic and later he would direct the newspaper "Heraldo sevillano". He was a deputy and chaired the Seville Provincial Council. In 1904, he was sent by the firm Mallol Hnos and arrived at the Río de la Plata with the mission of studying its commercial possibilities. The chronicles of his trip are very precise, they cover observations of daily life while giving references to commercial and industrial activities, enriched with interesting stories about the Spanish community and officials.
