PHOTOGRAPHIC CATALOG N. 8

The female universe. Muñoz town. Province of Santa Fe.

Collection of 5 vintage gelatin silver prints mounted on special vintage photographic cards decorated and on one side, the indication of the photographic house: "La Moderna. Calle Salta 2984. Rosario"; apparently a finding, due to the fact that it was not known in the bibliography, nor among the specialists consulted. Measures. Photographs: 11.8 x 16.5 cm / 4.64 x 6.5 in. Cardboards: 24 x 29.9 cm / 9.44 x 11.77 in.

Located in the vicinity of Pueblo Muñoz, the "Los Plátanos" ranch has the particular interest of being inhabited only by women and, what a coincidence, in the vicinity of a town founded around 1922 on the lands donated by Doña Camila Pedemonte de Muñoz. The urbanization was created from the Bernard Station, of the FF.CC that linked the cities of Bahía Blanca with Rosario, and around which a small hamlet had already formed.

The photographs were taken in the aforementioned room, whose owner was Vicenta Rodríguez de Maldini at the time. Four of them show us the interior of the spacious residence; two shots -group portraits- with seven women, and one of them in the main entrance with a striking staging of three couples and a lonely young woman sitting on the stairs; On the marble railing, a dog looks curiously at the camera. The other two images show uninhabited, the living room and another environment of the house. And the last, a view of the entrance with the young grove of it, the fountain decorated with sculptural ornamentation and the imposing lattice gate that leads to the garden.

Hired especially, that professional traveled the 40 kilometers from his study in the city of Rosario to Pueblo Muñoz to register the residence and his young women. This valuable collection has the great merit of showing us what the furniture was like and of course the customs of a rural house in the province of Santa Fe and, we must point out, that it is not a minor merit, since the vast majority of those records of yesteryear they only showed the exterior of the buildings. Nothing less than a window into the history of private life.
